Moikku was born from my own personal five-year experience in the wild west of online dating. I noticed that traditional dating apps focus almost entirely on likes and matches between users. Only a minority of matches lead to conversations, and an even smaller share leads to an actual date. Traditional apps are designed to keep people trapped in virtual spaces.

Moikku represents a new revolutionary dating approach. The app does not simply match two people. It matches three elements at once: the people, a suitable time and place, and a common interest or activity. Moikku connects people through something they can actually do together in the real world.

The key difference is that Moikku does not leave the hardest part to the users. It creates the date proposal for them in advance. Two culture lovers might be matched with a museum visit, music fans with a concert, or food enthusiasts with a restaurant experience. The proposal is based on their interests, location and availability.

Places are sourced from OpenStreetMap as well as from restaurants, cafés, events and other local venues added directly by businesses. Moikku helps users discover both each other and new places in their own city or while travelling.

Traditional dating apps mainly use AI to match users that supposedly are compatible. In my opinion is a really boring approach that doesn’t work anyway. Moikku uses AI to plan the entire date: connecting people, place, time and activity into new experiences of a lifetime.
